Ralph W. Bieber

Ralph Bieber has always been an avid fan of horror and suspense. He decided to collaborate on a Science Fiction story for a contest sponsored by Simon & Schuster in 1997. That project led to OUT OF THE LIGHT, a 2001 Bram Stoker Award semi-finalist in the best first novel category.

OUT OF THE LIGHT was contracted by The Penguin Group in February of 2004. The novel was then titled ASHES, and released by Berkley Press in June 2005 under the pseudonym H.R. Howland. The second Howland novel, THE EPICURE, was released in December 2005, also by Berkley Press.

Mr. Bieber has published several short stories including “Stingers”, which was released by Lone Wolf Publications in the 2001 anthology EXTREMES 3, TERROR ON THE HIGH SEAS, “Red Red Rose”, published by Dueling Minds, “The House From Hell”, published by Goodnight Kiss in MUSIC HORROR STORIES, “Moonrose”, put out by Silver Lake as part of THE WITCHING HOUR, and “Wildest Dreams”, published by 1000 Delights.

“The Story of Gravity Hill” was accepted for publication by Horrorfind in 2002. Horrorfind also published “What’s Dead Stays Dead” in the summer of 2003 to high acclaim.

“The Word Made Flesh” was published in 2004 as a part of the Mid Atlantic Horror Professional’s first chapbook. “Snakebit” was released in February 2006 in the anthology A GUIDED TOUR TO A HAUNTED MID-ATLANTIC.
“Prayers” was included in the 2011 tribute anthology IN LAYMON’S TERMS from Cemetery Dance.

In 2012 Mr. Bieber completed his first screenplay titled FIRE AND WATER.
THE EPICURE was rereleased in 2013 as an eBook by NECon eBooks, and SWEET NIGHTMARES, Mr. Bieber’s first short fiction collection is pending publication in 2013.
