New Audio From Crossroad Press

New Audio From Crossroad Press

2020 has been… interesting. This newsletter has been one of the things neglected, and I apologize for that. Believe me, it does not mean we have not been busy. I’m breaking audio off into this separate post. There will be a post about Crossroad Press Originals – and another about eBooks. I hope you are all safe, well, and ready to read.

Possibly our biggest news is that the unabridged Audiobook The Last Temptation of Christ, by Nikos Kazantzakis – performed by Joshua Saxon – is live and available. It’s a 22 hour monster of an audiobook, brilliantly narrated… the story of how we got the rights to this book is an amazing one, but there is no time for that here…

The Ten newest audiobook titles are:

Bloodwars (Necroscope Book 8) – by Brian Lumley – Narrated by Joshua Saxon

Alibi – by John McCarty – Narrated by James Romick

Exquisite Corpse – by Poppy Z. Brite – Narrated by Joshua Saxon

Murder Most Fowl – Dan Rhodes Mysteries by Bill Crider, Book #7 – Narrated by Chris Abell

Sweet Dreams are Made of Teeth – by Richard Roberts, Narrated by Henry Hanson

The Halloween House & Other Tales of All Hallows’ Eve – by Ronald Kelly – Narrated by J. Rodney Turner

The Hinterlands – by Karen Mercury – Narrated by Cynthia Hemminger

Fool’s Run – by Sidney Williams – Narrated by Josh Brogadir

Dead Lines – by John Skipp & Craid Spector – Narrated by Seylan Baxter

Snowglobe – by Aaron Gudmunson – Narrated by Shawn Compton

If you are an Audible member, and you choose the “Advanced Search” link, you can find all 800 plus Crossroad Press Audiobooks and sort them by newest, best-selling, and several other methods. I hope you’ll find something there to love.

June Update Audio, White Wolf & More!

June Update Audio, White Wolf & More!

June has been a busy month at Crossroad Press. We’ve been actively adding the rest of the White Wolf World of Darkness Dark Ages Clan novels, the last of the first batch of books we’re reviving from that universe. You can find all of the available titles wherever eBooks are sold and the paperbacks at Amazon … we are updating the Crossroad Press White Wolf Page as quickly as we can… this page provides links to all the available retailers so you can buy them from your preferred site: WHITE WOLF

We currently have four original books up for pre-order in eBook format (paperbacks to come) – Shadows of Faerie by Martin OwtonALONE? by Dan Foley Cold Comforts – a collection by Marianne Halbert and Walk the Darkness Down by John Boden. Remember to support our authors… pre-orders all count as sales on the day of release and can help with the launch.

We old and new series titles available, including Heart of a Dragon by David Niall Wilson – book One of the DeChance Chronicles – sporting a brand new cover from artist Cortney Skinner, The Rules of Supervillainy – book one of the Supervillainy Series by C. T. Phipps – both on sale for a limited time for only .99. We’d like to welcome Richard Roberts’ Please Don’t Tell My Parents I’m a Supervillain – first in that series now back digital and print, and the Jersey Girls Cozy Mystery series, starting with New Math is Murder, by Jo-Ann Lamon Reccoppa.

New in June in unabridged audio, we have Blue Devil Island by Stephen Mark Rainey – narrated by Joshua Saxon, Rips and Wrinkles – Ameri-Scares New York by Elizabeth Massie (Middle Grade) – narrated by Tim Lundeen, A Coven of Vampires by Brian Lumley – also narrated by Joshua Saxon, Terminal Run (Book 7 of the Michael Pacino Submarine Thriller series) by Michael DiMercurio – performed by Josephe Courtemanche, SKIN by Kathe Koja – performed by Suzanne T. Fortin, and 44 Years in Darkness : A True Story of Madness, Tragedy, and Shattered Love by Sylvia Shults – Narrated by Kendal Steele.

CROSSROAD PRESS will be attending the SCARES THAT CARE weekend in August, where authors David Niall Wilson, Elizabeth Massie, Nicholas Kaufman, and Stephen Mark Rainey will be in attendance. There will be signings at the dealer table, and much fun will be had. Join David for the 5K run on Saturday!

Top 25 eBook Titles from Crossroad Press in 2017

Top 25 eBook Titles from Crossroad Press in 2017

Since we have so many more eBooks than audio or print, I decided to go with our top 25 titles of 2017. You’ll find a mixture of genres and authors here, but notably non-fiction is still holding the top spots – notably true crime titles and biographies do well also. Clive Barker (no surprise) has several slots, but congratulations to Deborah Morgan, Bill Crider, and Brian Pinkerton for breaking onto this list. Survivor’s Game – a book I wrote with Holocaust Survivor David Karmi, is also on the list, as is my collaboration with Stacy Childs – the medical sports thriller Block 10 and my own novel Nevermore – all of which makes me happy. Dominant this year were the submarine thrillers of Michael DiMercurio…it was a very good year, and 2018 looks to be even better. Thanks to all of you who buy and read… below are a couple of links… one to our current best selling titles at Amazon – and one to our titles at Amazon that are enrolled in the Kindle Unlimited program – there are a LOT Of them, and if you are a KU subscriber I hope you’ll consider checking some of them out… over 400 available titles in that program. If you are NOT part of that program, but read a lot, you might want to give it a look…

Women in Horror – a Big Crossroad Press Salute!

Women in Horror – a Big Crossroad Press Salute!

Note from CEO David Niall Wilson:

I have been privileged to have worked with a great number of talented ladies throughout a long career associated with publishing, writing, and several genres of fiction. I am likely most associated with the horror community, having served as the President of the HWA and won a couple of awards.  During that time, I’ve had the opportunity to meet and be influenced by so many talented authors. I’ve never really differentiated them by gender, race or any other criteria, but looking back, I can tell you that a great deal of the influence on my career, my writing style, and my love of horror as a genre can be attributed to a string of remarkable women. A short list (not complete) would include Elizabeth Massie, Kathe Koja, Poppy Z. Brite, Shirley Jackson, Tanith Lee, Yvonne Navarro, Anne Rice, Caitlin Kiernan, Patricia Lee Macomber, Janet Berliner and Joyce Carol Oates.  (No order, just thinking).

At Crossroad Press, we have also been privileged to publish a large number of “women in horror” and I wanted a post up here to highlight that.  I’m not putting the books on sale – I think if you are honoring something, trying to turn it into a bargain is not the best way to do that. I’m simply going to mention those we are working with, at least two of whom have (sadly) left us for whatever comes next. I hope you’ll follow the links, read some of the books, and love them as I have.

Nothing is Constant, Except Change

Nothing is Constant, Except Change

After more than a decade of using GoDaddy.com for hosting, I finally decided it was time to move on.  I run several WordPress sites, including this one.  Recently, there was a vulnerability in WordPress that allowed a java-injected malware to screw up the feeds on a great number of WordPress sites.  GoDaddy was one of the hosts hit hard.  They were absolutely no help.  I know what I’m doing, and the guy I got for support was clearly first level – and held me on the phone for hours – then when I sent in the screen shots the actual network engineer asked for, I never heard from them at all.  They won’t admit they allowed the problem, and they won’t take any responsibility for it.  That’s fine.  They make most of their money on domain registration, selling services, etc… their site has become a web of things you have to say no to before you get what you need… I’ve moved all my sites to a secure, dedicated home that doesn’t put every new domain in a folder on the same hosting – that actually provides support when we need it, and that is co-located with our store.

The sites for all of the imprints have not yet gone live, but they will come back eventually – I think.  Keeping them all up separately, while providing more visibility, has proven a bit more burdensome than I expected, and I may draw it all back into this blog, where our newsletter is located.

So… for now… direct your sites here for all updates involving Crossroad Pres.  If you would spread the word – anyone who wants to be on our newsletter list (no more than a couple a month – never intrusive) can send an e-mail to publisher@crossroadpress.com with ADD ME TO THE LIST  – please spread that around.  The more the merrier.

You can, as always, find our newest titles at the following links.  The titles in our online store are lagging behind as we have fought to catch up some previously Amazon exclusive titles across other sites, and to get a lot of new material available in a very short amount of time.  Bear with us – everything is getting better.
